More than just a place to sleep

The Shaw neighborhood is booming and there are tons of things to do and see. Below are some of our favorites but don't just take it from us. Here is what Travel and Leisure has to say about the area:

How to plan a day in Washington, DC's hippest neighborhood

We know that you are probably aware of all of the great Smithsonian Museums (they're all free by the way) and all of the monuments, so we will not waste space telling you about them. However, there are some great places out there that you might not know. These are the places that we like to go and the things that we like to see.

Eat

We design restaurants for a living so we go out a lot (a whole lot) and we know all of the great spots. Here are some of the best ones nearby:

Theater

One of the things that we like most about the area is the number of places where you can see your favorite band. We've recently seen Dawes at the Lincoln Theatre and a great Amos Lee show at the Kennedy Center. There are shows every night of the week. Where are you going to go?

Shop

We are not on any of the best dressed lists (yet) but we know where to get the good stuff. Here are some of our favorite near by spots:

Art

You don't have to sweat it out with the hoards at the Smithsonian museums. There is plenty of street art to see, all within a few block walk. Some will be easy to find and some are secrete Easter eggs so put your walking shoes on and explore.
